Ein Interview von Johanna Foitzik mit der Moskauer Künstlerin Sasha Frolova anläßlich der Sonderausstellung „Inflandia“ 2017.
Die Skulpturen der Russin Sasha Frolova sind sehr ausgefallen: Aus knallig-buntem Latex fertigt sie kleine und große Objekte, die in ihren Ausstellungen gerne für Aufsehen sorgen. Noch exzentrischer sind ihre Live-Auftritte. Die Alternative Miss World 2014 (London) tritt unter dem Künstlernamen AQUAAEROBIKA zu Electro-Musik in schrillen Latex-Outfits auf. Das kommt auch beim jüngeren Publikum an und trifft den Nerv der Zeit. Auf ARTE gab es 2016 einen Bericht über die „Superheldin in Latex-Outfit“, deren Performances sich irgendwo zwischen Fetisch, Kinderfantasie und Kunst bewegen. Für ihre Ausstellung im Luftmuseum entwirft Sasha Frolova eine eigene Fantasiewelt und lädt die Besucher nach INFLANDIA ein.
The sculptures of russian artist Sasha Frolova are kind of eccentric: small and gigantic figures are made of brightly colored latex and cause sensation in public space. Even more eccentric are her live performances. The Alternative Miss World 2014 (London) performs as AQUAAEROBIKA, dressed in fancy latex-outfits and singing electropop music. Sasha Frolova has the finger on the pulse and excites audience of all ages. On ARTE (german-french TV) was a report about the „Superheroine in Latex Dress“ that described her performance art as a mix of fetish, children‘s fantasy and art. In her solo exhibition at the AIR MUSEUM Amberg, Frolova creates her own fantastic world and invites the visitors to INFLANDIA.
Sasha Frolova (geb. 1984) lebt und arbeitet in Moskau. 2002 Abschluss an der Kunstschule Stroganov’s Moscow Higher College of Art and Industry. 2004-2008 National Design Institute by Union of Designers (Abteilung für Grafik und Design). 2006 Abschluss in „New art strategies“ mit dem Schwerpunkt Zeitgenössische Kunst am Institute of Contemporary Art Problems of Joseph Backstein. Frolova gibt praktische Kurse zu Aktionskunst und -skulptur. Erfinderin des Projekts Aquaaerobika, das Aktionskunst mit elektronischer Musik vereint. In London war Frolova mehrmals zu Gast: 291 Gallery, Whitechapel Gallery, Riflemaker Gallery, Russian Winter Festival at Trafalgar Square. Auch in Hamburg, San Sebastian (Spanien), Kiew (Ukraine) und Frankreich stellte sie bereits aus. In Moskau im State Shusev’s Museum of Architecture, NCCA und Moscow Museum of Modern Art.
