Opening speech by the curators A TRANSÄLIEN, Sanni Est and Ué Prazeres

“what if I turned your world upside down?” is the first international international performance by historian and visual artist Sy Gomes. As a researcher of the arts of the body, the artist proposes in this action a great dance. With a public installation composed of wood, soil and LED panels, the idea is to break with the everyday life of Berlin, to turn upside down the perceptions of the body, living and experiences of cisgender humanity. The centre of gravity of the world can be changed. And if this were to happen? An explosion of performative status, experimental sounds and of historical scale? What if it had been different? What kind of world would we be living in?

The event will be held in Portuguese spoken language and translated into English spoken language.

Supported by Hauptstadtkulturfonds and the Senate Department for Culture and Europe.
